Chrześcijaństwo - zapomniany warunek pojednania i integracji w Europie. Perspektywa politologiczna

Michał Gierycz

Abstrakt

The article analyses the role of Christianity in shaping the EU as a space for reconciliation. First, the phenomenon of European integration itself as perceived by its initiator, Robert Schuman, is discussed. The aim of the analysis is to reveal and to understand the specific feature of the European project related to solidarity and reconciliation, as well as to discuss the theses on the subject of the conditions necessary for its existence. Showing the insufficiency of economic and political hypotheses, the author argues that Christianity is of central importance for the process of European integration. By way of conclusion, the potential consequences of marginalizing the importance of Christianity in the EU for reconciliation and integration within the EU are outlined.
